Aussie Desert Dogs is a heartfelt, hands‑on rescue and welfare program grounded in the remote Aboriginal community of Warlukurlangu Artists in Yuendumu (and surrounding areas including Nyirripi, Yuelamu, Mt Allan), Northern Territory. The program was born out of a deep love for the many dogs that walk alongside community life - dogs who are often more than pets: companions, protectors, and part of the cultural fabric of desert life. At the helm is Gloria - known affectionately in the community as "The Dog Lady of Yuendumu" - whose dedication extends far beyond a job. Working as the assistant manager of Warlukurlangu Artists, she has committed herself to rescuing, nurturing, treating, and rehoming dogs and other animals in need. Learn more about the program here.

Risharna Nakamarra Dickson

Risharna Nakamarra Dickson was born in Alice Springs and grew up in Yuendumu, where she began painting with Warlukurlangu Artists in 2010. Since 2020, she has been painting full-time, and shares her father’s Warna Jukurrpa (Snake Dreaming) ancestral stories passed down through generations. Her work uses traditional motifs to depict the journey of the ancestral snake across country, as well as women hunting for bush foods. 10% of the sale of this item is donated back to Risharna Nakamarra Dickson.

Pauline Napangardi Gallagher
